Two murders on the same day in Toekies

Two killed in separate stabbings early on Saturday morning.

Two men were found murdered, both stabbed to death in two separate incidents in Toekomsrus during the weekend.

Constable Carmen Hendricks, Randfontein Police spokesperson said the first stabbing took place on Rietrivier Street at about 4am on Saturday, 12 January.

“It was alleged that the victim was at his house on Rietrivier Street in Toekomsrus when he had an argument with his brother. The brother then took out a knife and stabbed him,” Hendricks said.

The victim was found inside a black Mercedes-Benz. He was taken to a clinic in Mohlakeng where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The knife used to kill him was confiscated.

“The suspect was arrested and will appear in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court soon,” Hendricks added.

In the second incident just 30 minutes later, a man was stabbed by a friend on Rose Street.

“A witness alleged that the victim came to the address on Rose Street where five friends were standing. They were drinking. He asked for a cigarette, but they told him that they didn’t have any. An argument started between the victim and a friend to whom he had previously sold a vehicle. The friend then took out a knife and stabbed him,” Hendricks said.

The suspect ran away from the scene and is still at large.

Brigadier Mashole Jacob Manamela, Randfontein Police station commander is shocked by these incidents and has sent his condolences to all the families.
