Man shot dead at Randfontein taxi rank

Cartridge upon cartridge found at the scene of a shooting at a taxi rank on Friday night – one dead.

A man was shot and killed at the Randfontein Taxi Rank on Friday night, 11 January.

Randfontein Police said they are investigating a case of murder and that the incident was reported to them by an unknown man shortly after the shooting.

“The sector vehicle rushed to the scene but upon arrival, the police were informed that the victim had been taken to hospital by his son. It was alleged that the victim was shot by one of two men in a white Siyaya with no registration plates,” Constable Carmen Hendricks, the Randfontein Police spokesperson said.

Hendricks added that three empty cartridges and a pool of blood from the victim were found on the scene.

“While on the scene, the police were informed that the victim had succumbed to his wounds and died in hospital. The suspects are still at large and police call on the help of the community to assist them with any information,” Hendricks said.
