Brush-and-wash day at the sanctuary

A total of twenty-six dogs were given a nice brush and wash at Castaways Animal Sanctuary during the weekend.

Twenty-six dogs at the Castaways Animal Sanctuary were pampered on Sunday, 6 January by members of the community.

All rolled up their sleeves to dip and bath their beloved four-legged friends while also having fun.

Sammy Swanepoel and Corné Botha washing one of the dogs at the Animal Cast Away Sanctuary.

Sammy Swanepoel, coordinator of the day and avid animal lover, said, “Now that it is summer time, fleas are becoming more prevalent, so we came up with the idea of pampering the dogs that are cared for here. Although we organised it at the last minute, people at the sanctuary appreciated the initiative.”

Sammy said another brush-and-wash day will be held again to help the dogs cool off in the hot weather.

Christo Swanepoel and Corné Botha have fun sipping and bathing the dogs.

“We are also doing it for the fun of it,” Sammy said.
