The congregation of the Randfontein Gospel Truth Church took to the streets of Randfontein and Elandsvlei to spread the Gospel and help the needy.
According to Naomi Mekgwe, one of the organisers of the annual outreach that was held on Monday, 17 December, their aim was to give back to the community.
“The church has many Ethiopian members and this annual outreach is their way of giving back to the community while thanking them for being so welcoming. We started this outreach six years ago and this year we identified the residents of Elandsvlei as the beneficiaries,” she said.
They handed out groceries such as cooking oil, maize meal and sugar to underprivileged families in Elandsvlei. The outreach started with a convoy moving through the CBD and Elandsvlei and the pastors bringing the Word over a megaphone.
“This is part of the Africa For Jesus campaign and we want to spread the word about our Lord and Saviour. I want to thank the shop owners who donated the food and everyone who took part in the outreach. It’s lovely to get the opportunity to help the community during Christmas; however, we need to do it every day,” Naomi added.
