Find out what being born in the 'Year of the Pig' means according to the Chinese ...

On the Chinese calendar, 2019 is the Year of the Pig.

According to China Highlights, the Pig is the ‘last animal sign on the Chinese Zodiac’. Other Years of the Pig included 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, and 2007. The next Year of the Pig will be 2031.

According to the website, “It is theorised that a person’s characteristics are decided by their birth year’s Zodiac animal sign and element”.

It’s said there are five types of Pig, each with different characteristics namely:

• Wood pig (born in 1935 and 1995) – ‘good-natured, lovely, easy-going, generous, brave but irritable’

• Fire pig (born in 1947 and 2007) – ‘ambitious, persevering, but impatient’

• Earth pig (born in 1959 and 2019) – ‘communicative, popular among their friends, with a strong sense of timekeeping’

• Gold pig (born in 1911 and 1971) – ‘broad-minded, amicable, and willing to help others’

• Water pig (born in 1923 and 1983) – ‘gentle, modest, earnest, responsible, but subjective in life’

Famous ‘Pig Year people’ include Henry Ford, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Hillary Clinton, and if you are also one then you may have personality traits which include being “diligent, compassionate, and generous”.

So-called ‘lucky Pig colours’ are yellow, grey, brown and gold. ‘Lucky numbers’ are 2, 5 and 9 as well as numbers containing them, for example 25 and 58.
