Whether a festive dessert means a Christmas cake or the good ol’ trifle, it’s sure to get you into the festive mood.

2. Attend a festive-themed masterclass

If baking isn’t your strong point, up your dessert game by attending a festive-themed masterclass. Not only will you have a recipe to take home to your family, but it will also add to the anticipation.

3. Make your own decorations

There are endless tutorials on how to impress your family with your DIY Christmas decorations. Spending time on this will most definitely contributes to the festiveness.

4. Watch Christmas films

Watching a few Christmas films with the family will remind you of what it’s all about. Christmas is about family, togetherness and appreciation.

5. Visit Santa

If you feel that you may be too old for these kinds of things, you have two options. Your first option is to borrow a younger cousin or sibling to join you. Your second option is to BE Santa and pay a visit to your nearest orphanage or old age home.

6. Go ice-skating

Whether you spend the whole time clinging to the sides or whizzing around like a pro, there’s plenty of rinks to make it feel like a white Christmas.

7. Listen to Christmas music

Crack out all the old favourites and don’t hesitate to sing along.
