Police have released three identity kit pictures of rape suspects who could be anywhere on the West Rand.
All the cases in which they are believed to be involved are being investigated by the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS). Their modus operandi was also revealed.
Suspect one grabbed the victim, put a knife against her neck and told her that he wanted to sleep with her. After his victim refused, he raped her twice. He has been described as dark in complexion, aged between 26 and 28, and approximately 1,7 metres tall. Suspect two is said to have been involved in a rape and kidnapping in neighbouring Krugersdorp. The victim was walking towards the Krugersdorp Taxi Rank when two people approached her from behind. One grabbed her by the neck and strangled her while the other one threatened her with a knife. They forced her to walk past the taxi rank and took her into an unfamiliar piece of veld. Once they were in the bushes, the suspects started arguing as to what they wanted to do with the victim. One of them left and the other one raped the victim. In the middle of the night, he forced the victim to a place where there were numerous plastic and cardboard box shacks. He threatened the victim, saying that if she made a noise, the people living there would come out and gang rape her. He forced her into a shack and raped her the whole night. In the morning, he showed her how to get away. The victim was able to run to the taxi rank, and proceeded home before going to the police.
This suspect has been described as light in complexion, aged between 26 and 30 and of short stature. Anyone with information about the whereabouts of this man should contact Sergeant Buthelezi on 084 338 8241. See suspect identikit 2.
Suspect three is also said to have been involved in a rape in Krugersdorp. The victim was with her friends when they decided to go and play in a nearby mountainous area. When it began to get dark, they opted to go home. In the distance, they saw an adult male approaching them. The man allegedly started chasing them and tripped the victim with his legs. The victim slowed down and the man strangled her, and pulled her into the bushes where he raped her. The victim managed to flee after the ordeal, while her friends went to call their parents and street patrollers.
This man has been described as having a coffee-coloured complexion, is tall, and aged between 30 and 40. Anyone with information about the whereabouts of this man should contact Sergeant Coetzee on 081 218 5573. See suspect identikit 3.
