Two women arrested with stolen goods

Two Bekkersdal women, one of them a housekeeper, have been arrested for being in possession of property that had been stolen from a house in Rustenburg.

Two Bekkersdal women – one of them a housekeeper – are due to appear in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court after they were caught in possession of property that was allegedly stolen from a house in Rustenburg.

According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, the victim came to the Bekkersdal Police Station with information about the alleged thief who had stolen items from his house.

“Constables Nicolas Hlungwani and Piet Mofokeng swiftly responded to the complaint and proceeded to the address. They found two women in a shack at the Spooktown informal settlement and the victim immediately identified the black HP laptop and black luggage bag containing clothing as his.

“The police searched the shack and also recovered some of the money the victim alleged to have been stolen from him. The suspects were arrested.”

Colonel Tinus Swart, the Bekkersdal Police station commander applauded the members for the arrest and for recovering the stolen property. He urged the public to conduct background checks before employing housekeepers.
