SuperSpar in the Randfontein CBD supports local Academy's aim to get youngsters off the streets by donating soccer gear.

SuperSpar in the Randfontein CBD donated a quantity of soccer gear to the Soccer Legends Academy on Saturday, 10 November.

This in an effort to help achieve the Academy’s mission of getting youngsters off the streets and active in sports.

“This is something that is very personal to us and hits home, because we are average people who have been given an opportunity to to leave a legacy for our children. We want to ensure that where there is an opportunity in our community, we help people to prosper and better their lives,” Riaz said.

Elias Moshoeshoe, co-founder of Soccer Legends Acadamy said Spar was the only organisation that came on board for sponsorship.

“In 2016, we realised that there were many youngsters just idling around, and we realised that soccer was the best way to keep them off the streets and from becoming trapped in many social ills,” Elias said.

Riaz Dawood receives a certificate of appreciation from Joseph Swartz, co-founder of Soccer Legends.

Elias added that with many negative things happening around them, it is very important to take youngsters to different environments where they will be able to realise their true potential.

He said Soccer Legends is made up of boys from Mohlakeng, Finsbury, Bongweni and the Randfontein CBD.

“We are truly glad about this initiative, because it will certainly go a long way to encouraging the players to get even more serious about the game,” Elias added.
