Venties show off their public speaking skills

The annual friendly competition between Venterspos Primary and Laerskool Randfontein was an even bigger success than last year

Learners from Venterspost Primary School (Venties) excelled during the second annual Taking Titans Public Speaking competition.

“The annual friendly competition between Venties and Laerskool Randfontein (Ram) was an even bigger success than last year. Celeste Pretorius from Ram organised this event, giving us a platform to practise our public speaking skills,” said Lina Vogel, Department Head of Languages.

“Last year, learners didn’t know what to expect from the competition, but this year they were more than ready,” she said.

The competition took place at Ram on Monday, 22 October and 20 Venties learners took part.

The following learners placed in the Top 3 places in each grade:

• Grade 1: Matshidiso Moleko was in first place, Lusenathi Liwani was in second place and Mpho Makatelle was in third place,

• Grade 2: Karabo Mokgatla was in third place,

• Grade 3: Nomvula Stander was in second place,

• Grade 4: Mbali Lumka was in third place,

• Grade 5: Boitshepo Mkhontwana was in third place,

• Grade 7: Sinenhlanhla Mdluli was in second place, with Reanetse Bookholane in third place.

“Principal Hammond Maqelepo and I are very proud of the patience, the creativity and the discipline these children have shown toward public speaking. We’re already looking forward to 2019’s friendly competition,” Lina said.
