Municipality makes big donation to old age home

Hundreds of nappies and gloves were donated to the Wheatlands Old Age Home by the Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM).

The Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) donated 600 adult nappies and 250 gloves to the elderly of the Wheatlands Old Age Home in Wheatlands on Wednesday, 31 October.

The aim was to celebrate the lives of Oliver Tambo and Albertina Sisulu, who were both born in October.

The nappies and gloves handed over to the old age home.

Mzi Khumalo, the Rand West City Mayor, officially handed over the items to the founder of the centre, Pauline Mokae.

“We thought as part of celebrating their lives, which was something the whole country engaged in, we should honour our local elderly people, especially those who are needy and situated in rural spaces. We hope that the items that we have donated will go a long way to making life easier for them,” he said.
