Security guards strike over ‘unpaid salaries’

Security guards at three clinics in Toekomsrus, Randgate and Greenhills downed tools on Tuesday morning.

Security guards at three clinics in Toekomsrus, Randgate and Greenhills downed tools on Tuesday morning, 30 October, amid claims that they have not been paid for months by the sub-contracted security company.

Among the strikers were some who said they have not been paid for six months.

“This is a very serious grievance we have with our security company. I have not been paid for six months. We are not here to demonstrate violence or to burn anything, we simply need answers.

We want to make them understand our situation because our families are getting hungry,” said Gladys Ntwampe, one of the strikers.
