#ThrowbackThursday – 24 October 1986

The Herald goes back, way back, to 24 October 1986 for this week’s #ThrowbackThursday.

It’s Throwback Thursday, so the Herald went back in time to 24 October 1986. During this time 32 years ago, Randfontein beauty queens were submitting their entries at the Herald’s office for the Miss Randfontein pageant.

The Herald reported at the time that three entries per day were submitted.

One of the prizes included a weekend for two at a luxury holiday resort on the Natal South Coast, a modelling make-up finishing course worth R150, and designer dress to the value of R100.

Other interesting headlines at the time:

The fair that was held on 27 September 1986 was a success, and managed to raise R25 000.
The South African Archery championships were brought to Randfontein.
Patrick Mynhardt performed in Randfontein. He died in 2007.
