Friends robbed at taxi rank

Four suspects are wanted for pointing a firearm at two friends after they refused to buy it.

Four suspects are wanted in connection with a robbery near the Bekkersdal taxi rank earlier this week.

Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson said, “At about 7.52pm on Monday, 22 October, it is alleged the victim was with his friend when they were approached by four men who showed them a firearm and said they wanted to sell it.

“When the friends allegedly told the suspects they were not interested in buying it, one of the men suddenly pointed the firearm at them, demanding money and cellphones. The suspects then fled the scene.”

Lefakane added the incident was reported to the police and an investigation is currently under way.
