RCA pampers the elderly

The function aimed at honouring the grandparents of the school's learners.

The Randfontein Christian Academy (RCA ) pampered its learners’ grandparents in return for the important role they play in the lives of its learners during the Oupa and Ouma Day held on Saturday, 20 October.

Principal of the school, Dr Chris Ayres, said the day was aimed at simply reminding the grandparents and the community of what an important link the grandparents form between their grandchildren and their education.

“The function is just to thank you for what you have done for your grandchildren,” Dr Ayres said.

Guests at the function were treated to a motivational speech by Kenny Vaaltyn, a pastor and gospel singer.

All the grandmothers also received gift hampers sponsored by Dischem of Tambotie Mall.

“We also received a lot of donations from the staff and relatives of the learners of the school,” Dr Ayres said.

The function had a lucky draw segment too, with two lucky winners receiving prizes.

“First of all, we would like to thank the Lord for giving us this opportunity to be able to host our dear grandparents and each and every person who has been a part of this function, most especially those who have sponsored us. As RCA, we just want to thank you for looking after your grandchildren, for always making sure that you are there whenever you are needed for your support, and for being part of our school’s programme.

“We want to encourage you to keep up the good work that you are doing already and have done in the past,” Dr Ayres said.
