“It is alleged by a 39-year-old woman that she opened the store and went inside, locking the door behind her. An unknown man wearing a balaclava came up behind her with a firearm and demanded money.

He took the money, tied up her hands and locked her inside an office.

“He then demanded the safe keys, but the victim did not have them. The perpetrator then fled the scene, leaving her inside the office. She managed to untie herself and called for help. Mapogo A Mathamaga security arrived shortly after and managed to break the door open to gain entry and assist her.”

“It was suspected the perpetrator escaped through the roof and unfortunately, when the security guard went after him, he fell from the ceiling and sustained an injury. The perpetrator fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. No shots were fired and the security officer was later taken to hospital. The extent of the injuries he sustained is unknown at this stage,” Hendricks said.
