Livestock worth R40 000 stolen

Manhunt launched for a number of suspects after livestock with a street value of R40 000 was stolen in Bekkersdal during the weekend.

Bekkersdal Police are looking for a number of suspects after 11 goats with a street value of R40 000 were stolen from a kraal in the Holomisa section of Bekkersdal between Saturday, 12 and Sunday, 14 October.

“It is alleged that the owner locked his goats inside the kraal and went to sleep. The following morning, he was awakened by his son informing him the kraal was empty. During the investigation, the victim noticed that the fence had been cut open for entry,” said Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson.

Lefakane added the matter was reported to the Bekkersdal Police and a case of stock theft is being investigated.

“Investigation into the matter is continuing. Anyone with information that could lead to an arrest should please contact the Bekkersdal Police on 072 561 8502 or contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111,” Lefakane said.
