A 48-year-old man was the latest victim targeted by armed robbers at the Randfontein dumping site.
According to Constable Carmen Hendricks, Randfontein Police spokesperson, it is alleged the complainant was on his way home at about 6.28pm last Friday, 12 October, when he was approached by a group of men wearing balaclavas.
“He was threatened with a firearm and robbed of his cash. The victim was shot and wounded before the suspects fled the scene. He was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital,” said Hendricks.
The case is being investigated by the Randfontein Detective Branch, who are requesting anyone with information about the incident to come forward. They can be contacted on 011 278 8100.

“We are appealing to the public not to walk alone and to always walk in groups. It is of great concern that suspects are shooting innocent people even if they took their property,” said Colonel Rand Makgatho, acting Randfontein Police station commander.
