Rem, West Rand police leave green footprint

Randfontein Primary School recently celebrated Heritage and Arbor Months all in one day with some big names in the police of the West Rand Cluster.

Randfontein Primary School (Rem) recently celebrated Heritage and Arbor Months all in one day, along with some big names in the police.

Major General Fred Kekana, the West Rand Police cluster commander and some of his management as well as various station commanders within the cluster planted a yellowwood tree at the school.

Rem learners Cuan Oosthuizen and Zusiphe Venkile about to pour compost in the hole where they planted their tree.

Lebogang Salagae, the head boy and Omphile Moerane, the head girl, along with their student council also planted a tree to pay it forward for the scholars who will follow in their footsteps.

Kekana said, “We as police understand the importance of preserving nature in order to ensure a healthy world for our future generations. Therefore we decided to visit you and plant trees with you, not only to celebrate Arbor Day and Month, but also to leave a green footprint.”

Brigadier Jacob Manamela, the Randfontein Police station commander does his part for Arbor Month.

He added, “As you can see, we are dressed in traditional clothing since we are celebrating our heritage. Pay it forward wherever you may go, because it will impact positively on generations to come.”
