The rape of a 13-year-old girl near Donaldson Dam has again sent shock waves through Randfontein.
According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, the Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, the incident happened on 1 September at about 3.30pm.

“According to the victim, she was walking along the R28 road near Donaldson Dam with her friend when they were accosted by an unknown man. He demanded that they hand over their phones to him and when they said they did not have phones, he wanted money. When they told him they had no money he threatened them with a knife and pushed them into the bushes. He instructed them to sit on the grass and hide.
“He then ordered the victim to undress and started penetrating her. The friend managed to run for help but when she returned to the scene with community member the suspect was gone,” concluded Lefakane.
The victim was able to compile an ID kit of the suspect. He is alleged to be between 16 and 20 years of age, is of slender build, has a coffee-coloured skin and brown eyes. He was wearing a black hoodie, grey track-suit pants and purple sneakers.
