Taxi catches fire – three injured

PIC: Taxi caught fire on the R501 in Carletonville yesterday.

Three people sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate when the taxi they were travelling in burst into flames on the R501 in Carletonville on Monday, 1 October.

“ER24 paramedics along with the Provincial Fire Services arrived on scene at 5.41pm only to find the taxi on the side of the road, well alight,” said Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson.

He added that paramedics quickly assessed the passengers and found three with injuries.

“Fortunately no serious injuries or fatalities were found. The patients were treated and transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment,” he added.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
