Staff members’ health in the spotlight during Lenmed’s Wellness Day

The aim of the event was for the busy hospital staff to have check-ups and tests done, and also to raise awareness about their fitness, finances and mental well-being.

Nurses, doctors and other hospital staff members devote almost all of their time to tending to patients’ needs.

That’s why Lenmed Randfontein Private Hospital hosted a Wellness Day event for its staff at the hospital on 20 and 21 September.

“It was a two-day event because some staff members work shifts and we wanted everybody to be a part of it,” Johann Gouws, human resources manager at Lenmed Randfontein Private Hospital said.

The aim of the event was for the hospital staff to have check-ups and tests done, and also to raise awareness about their fitness, finances and mental well-being.

“Groups that do medical tests, dieticians, optometrists, fitness trainers, and financial institution advisors were all part of the event. We had an ultimate challenge that every staff member should try to complete. It consisted of push-ups, sit-ups, planking, and a mental challenge,” he said.

The event was filled with surprises and competitions, but the main focus was to check up on and improve the well-being of the staff members who work hard every day.
