Avante pays tribute to slain North West teacher

A Randfontein school paid their respects and commented about the slain North West teacher.

Teachers of Avante Primary School in Kocksoord wore black to mourn the death of slain Zeerust teacher, Gadimang Mokolobate.

On 13 September, Mokolobate, 24, who was a teacher at Ramotshere Technical School in Dinokana, Zeerust in the North West province was allegedly stabbed and killed by a Grade 10 learner at the school.

Reginah Marule, deputy principal of Avante Primary School said they mourned the death of the teacher with the rest of the country and that they treat the incident as if one of their own colleagues was murdered.

Mr Mokolobate was a breadwinner and teacher by profession. We can associate with him, but sadly his life was shortened by a murderer in school uniform. The Avante family would like to show our deepest sympathies and respect to a fallen teacher-soldier.

“We are all wearing black in memory of this loved teacher and by doing so, we also say to our employer that one teacher murdered is one too many.

“We are valuable members of the society, therefore we need strong security systems in our schools and we want our employers to intervene immediately.”

According to the Herald‘s mother newspaper, The Citizen, Mokolobate was writing on the chalkboard inside a classroom when he was stabbed in the chest. The teen suspect is due to appear in court soon.
