• Until 16 September: Simply The Best Show at Emperors Palace

With a South African artist headlining this Tina Turner spectacular, Simply The Best is the show to support this Spring. South African born professional singer, Caroline Borole, was hand-picked by director John van Grinsven to tackle Tina Turner’s trademark growls, grunts and raspy vocals for the two-hour production. It’s pretty much like experiencing the legend herself. The confident Borole is accompanied by four energetic dancers who twist and twirl their way around stage to a live backing band, making this show simply the best for any Tina Turner fan! • Until 16 September: Diwali India Lifestyle Festival at Montecasino

Whether you’re going to celebrate Diwali or you just love the Indian culture, the festival is open to all who want to celebrate. It promises to be an explosion of colour, taste, sound and texture, showcasing wares and delights from local and international exhibitors. Although the traditional festival of Diwali is only in November, it’s never too early to get your shopping done. There is something for every member of the family, including camel and rickshaw rides, and a kiddies cricket area. For adults there will be a lounge decked with low tables, soft cushions, traditional hookahs and a vast array of flavoured tobaccos. Randfontein On Your Knees will be hosting their 17th prayer rally on Sunday, 16 September at the Jesus is Lord Christian Centre in Zenzele at 4pm.

• Until 23 September: Cirque Infernal at the Joburg Theatre

Experience the global phenomenon of Cirque Infernal – death-defying acts, all inspired by three famous film directors! Cirque Infernal offers non-stop captivating entertainment. You’re going to bite your nails with this one, especially the Cage of Death in which three daredevil motorbike riders race around inside a giant cage. On Friday, 14 and Saturday, 15 September Silverstar will host the Groot Gees Fees! This spectacular Afrikaans lifestyle festival will embrace all three essential elements of Afrikaans lifestyle: food, entertainment and creative living. This trinity will be blended together to produce an entertaining showcase of everything that is local and lekker. Visitors can look forward to music and dance with performances by Afrikaans favourites such as Arno Jordaan, Conrad Cronje, Radio Kalahari Orkes and Beeskraal. And the gees? That will happen during the Currie Cup Rugby screenings on the big screens inside the venue. Of course there will be traditional boerekos, arts and crafts exhibitors and a play area for the kids.

• Mi Casa & Lira

Party the night away on 29 September at Silverstar with not one, but two award-winning acts: funky trio, Mi Casa and the inimitable Lira! A night of amazing music awaits you at Silverstar. • Boktown is back

Sunny skies and rugby can mean only one thing … Boktown is back at Silverstar! This official supporters village creates a unique experience that goes beyond the 80 minutes of rugby action on the field. It is a place where passionate Springbok fans can cheer on the Bokke – the best alternative to being at the game in person. The 2018 Castle Lager Rugby Championship sees the Springboks take on Australia (29 September) and New Zealand (6 October). The whole family can enjoy the games live on the West Rand’s biggest screen with live entertainment, delicious food, ice-cold drinks, prize giveaways, appearances by SA Rugby Legends, My Players stars and Bokkie – the official Springbok mascot.

• 20 September: CPF public meeting in Randfontein

The public is invited to attend a CPF public meeting to be held at Clan Doyle at the corner of Elizabeth Road and Road nr 9, Bootha plots from 6.30pm. Henry Boyce, CPF Operations coordinator said after a year’s good cooperation between the CPF, police and public, whereupon good successes were obtained, it is in the best interest of each and everyone to attend the meeting for his/ her family’s sake and safety. The CPF has already been active on the plots for three years.

• 23 September: To Gin or Not to Gin event at Glenburn Lodge & Spa

There is nothing that beats a refreshing G&T at the end of the day. It could be any gin-infused concoction. With the local juniper-based renaissance exploding, there has never been a better time to hop on board. Glenburn Lodge & Spa is throwing their weight behind this much-loved spirit by hosting the first-ever Cradle Gin Festival in the Cradle of Mankind. The festival concept, which brings together over 20 different craft and international gins, has been masterminded by event organisers, Melody Barber and Ellen Oosthuizen. • 24 September: #BeatBolt in the 100m sprint and win big

The exciting #ForeverFaster PUMA #BeatBolt sprint will be the source of much excitement and #FastTimes at the FNB Joburg 10K CITYRUN on Heritage Day. According to Brett Bellinger, Marketing Director of PUMA South Africa, the Beat Bolt sprint has been a hit in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. Runners will need to give their all over a 100m sprint. This section of the route will be timed. The runner (male and female) to clock the fastest time over the 100m will take home a Puma shopping voucher to the value of R10 000. Starting in front of FNB Bank City, runners and walkers will be treated to a 10km route experience that will highlight iconic landmarks and feature live performances by a host of Joburg’s leading performing arts groups. Iconic landmarks to look out for will include the Nelson Mandela Bridge, FNB Bank City, Constitution Hill, Mary Fitzgerald Square, Wits University and Ellis Park Stadium, to mention just a few. When entering online, runners can choose to support one or all three of the event’s charities namely the Johannesburg Heritage Foundation, the Johannesburg SPCA and the Reach For A Dream Foundation.

• 29 September: Spring Adventure Run at Sungate Farms, Randfontein

Sungate Farms on Ventersdorp Road in Randfontein will be hosting their Spring Adventure Run (10km and 5km) to celebrate their 23rd birthday, which will be followed by entertainment, food and interesting goodies to buy at the flea market. They will be raising funds for their nominated charities. Contact 011 416 6171.

• 29 September: Cupcakes for kids with cancer at Village Square

Village Square Shopping Centre will be presenting a Cupcakes for kids with cancer event as part of the Cupcakes of HOPE’s 7th National Cupcake Day 4 Kids with Cancer. This is a community-driven project where Cupcake Angels ‘bake’ a difference in the lives of children with cancer. Cupcakes of Hope is a non-profit company (NPC 2012/103028/08) and public benefit organisation (PBO 930053726) started by Sandy Cipriano in 2012. Its mission is to raise awareness about childhood cancer and funds for kids with cancer who are in need of medical and financial assistance. They do this predominantly through their love of baking cupcakes. To take part in National Cupcake Day, visit www.cupcakesofhope.org to find your nearest participating mall. Contact the mall coordinator to make your pledge of 24 or 48 cupcakes. The public can support the cause on the day by making a R10 donation for a delicious cupcake.
