Man offers woman a lift and rapes her

Police are on the hunt for a man accused of raping a women after giving her a lift in Westonaria.

The Carletonville Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit has released an identity kit of a suspect after a 29-year-old woman was raped.

Raymond Sebonyane, Westonaria Police spokesperson said the incident happened at about 11.15pm on Friday, 3 August.

“The victim alleged that she was on her way from a friend’s house somewhere in Glenharvie when a red SUV with a wheel at the back stopped next to her. The driver offered her a lift but drove to a nearby tavern where he bought some liquor for himself and for her.

“After they had finished drinking, the man drove to an isolated area where he allegedly raped the victim. Afterwards he dropped her off somewhere in Glenharvie next to the N12. The victim went to a nearby filling station where she got help.

“The case docket of rape was later opened by Westonaria Police. The suspect is still at large and investigations are continuing.

“The victim was able to assist the police with compiling the ID kit of the suspect. The suspect is coffee-coloured, muscular, of average height and has short hair. He was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, a dark baseball cap, and he can be between the ages of 36 and 45 years. The suspect was speaking Zulu.”

The police are appealing to the community to come forward with information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrator.
