Three women were arrested and appeared in court after an alleged assault on a man in Bekkersdal on Saturday, 8 September.
Police said the women, who are aged between 23 and 27, were arrested for assault after they had robbed a victim of his cellphone.
“It is alleged that the victim was enjoying himself at a local tavern when one of the suspects allegedly took his cellphone. The victim followed the suspect outside. During the argument, two other suspects joined in and attacked him,” Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson said.
