Man gets 15 years for aggravated robbery

A 31-year-old man from Pimville, Soweto was sentenced to 15 years behind bars for a aggravated robbery that took place in Westonaria five years ago.

The Westonaria Regional Court recently sentenced 31 year-old Sello Molio of Pimville, Soweto to 15 years in jail.

This for a robbery he and two others committed in Westonaria five years ago.

Warrant Officer Raymond Sebonyane said, “It is alleged that at about 8.30am on 11 October 2013, the victim returned from the shops and while he was trying to open his garage door, he was attacked by three unknown men. Two of them were carrying firearms and took the victim’s house and safe keys. They opened the safe and took the victim’s firearm. Then they searched the victim and took his cash and cellphone, and tied both of his hands and legs.

“A case docket of robbery was opened and was allocated to Detective Warrant Officer Alpheus Motlhale for further investigation. Through intensive investigation by the member, one of the suspects was arrested and has been in custody since the passing of his sentence.”

Colonel Selvan Moonsamy, the Westonaria Police station commander applauded the member for the job well done and welcomed the conviction.
