Symphony concert at Westonaria High

The concert was part of the school's outreach programme to give people an experience they otherwise may never have.

Westonaria High School hosted a symphony concert on Sunday 2 September, for which the Pretoria Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and the East Rand Youth Corps teamed up to form a group of 45 musicians.

Francina Oosthuizen, coordinator of the event said it was part of the school’s programme to reach out to the community to enable everyone to enjoy this music genre.

CLASSIC: Members of the orchestra captivate the audience with one of their famous pieces.

“With this symphony concert we wanted to give people an experience they never had, or might never have,” Francina added.

She also thanked sponsors who made the concert possible, such as Jonrik Mining, Johnies Service Station, Venter and Von Abo Attorneys, Strydom and Botha Attorneys, Pick n Pay, Delheim Meat World and several private individuals.
