Avante marks Women’s Day in style

Avante Primary School celebrated Women's Month by empowering women of the school with talks about resisting abuse.

Avante Primary School celebrated Women’s Month on Wednesday, 8 August by empowering women of the school with talks about resisting abuse.

Reginah Marole, the deputy principal of the school, said this year’s Women’s Day event was out of the ordinary and added that the programme incorporated various issues suffered by women and children.

She added that the two guest speakers, Nosi Mbonba and Lucille Manzi focused on exposing these issues and helping women with protection.

“We thought it would be a good initiative if we came together to address these issues.

This was not only for the women in our school but for women in general who are experiencing these things on a daily basis. We also focused on empowering women to be better mothers, and raise their children better.”

Reginah said the abuse and killing of women has to stop.

“For the first time ever, those who attended said that the programme was an eye opener,” Reginah added.
