Bekkersdal Police have launched a manhunt for at least two suspects in connection with the rape of a 24-year-old woman last week.
Police said it is alleged the victim was sleeping when she heard a sound of someone banging on the door.
“She tried to call her neighbour, but failed. She further alleges the suspects broke the door and entered. One of them pointed at her with a firearm and ordered her to undress,” said Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson.
She added that while the one suspect was allegedly raping the victim, the other searched the house.
“Upon leaving, the suspects took a phone and fired a shot. We are appealing to the community at large to assist with information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators,” Lefakane said.
Anyone with information can contact the Bekkersdal Police on 011 755 0000, or contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
This incident took place about a week after another woman was raped during a home invasion in the Fochville area during the weekend of 11 and 12 August.
