Girl, 17, raped in vehicle – Suspect wanted

Suspect wanted for allegedly raping 17-year-old girl in vehicle.

The Carletonville Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) has released an identity kit of a suspect after a 17-year-old girl was raped.

Warrant Officer Raymond Sebonyane, the Westonaria Police spokesperson, said the incident happened last month.

“The victim alleges that she was on her way to the shops and making her way past a nearby mine hostel, when she was approached by a man driving a silver VW Polo. He threatened her with a firearm and instructed her to get into the vehicle.

“He then drove her to an isolated open field where he raped her inside the vehicle. The perpetrator further threatened the victim with abducting her siblings if she reported the incident,” Sebonyane said.

He added although the victim was left there, she managed to walk home and the matter was reported to the police. The perpetrator remains at large.

According to the information given by the victim to the police, the perpetrator can be described as light in complexion, slender, tall, with a black mark on his left cheek and between 30 and 40 years of age. He spoke isiZulu and Setswana.

Police are appealing to the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrator.
