A badly mutilated man’s body has been found near where he was allegedly attacked by a group of people.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, the Randfontein Police spokesperson, community members made a report on Wednesday, 15 August, regarding a 48-year-old man who had disappeared after he was allegedly attacked.

“It was alleged that the victim and others were apparently walking towards Swaneville when a group of unknown people attacked them,” Ernst said.

The area was visited and the badly mutilated body of the 48-year-old man was found close to the Luipaardsvlei Dam on the Cooke Plant.

“Suspects are unknown at this stage and investigators will have to establish if the murder might be linked to illegal mining activities in the area,” Ernst concluded.
