Police arrested three suspects for housebreaking and theft in the Spooktown informal settlement last week.

The crime was committed between 27 July and 2 August 2018. Police said the suspects who appeared in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court on 10 Friday, August, were between the ages of 20 and 21 years.

“It is alleged that the victim went away and left his house in order. He received a call from his neighbour informing him of the break-in,” said Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson.

The matter was reported to the police and through intensive investigation by the members with the assistance of the community, all stolen goods were recovered.

Colonel Tinus Swart, the Bekkersdal Police station commander commended the community for their cooperation, and applauded the police for apprehending the suspects.
