Man, 60, hit and killed by train

60-year-old man hit and killed by train in Homelake on Friday night.

A man believed to be 60 years old died after he was hit and killed by a train between Homelake and Randfontein Railway Stations on the evening of Friday, 10 August.

Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson confirmed the incident took place at about 9.30pm.

“The circumstances is still under investigation but it is suspected that the deceased crossed the railroad track and was hit by a train.

“The victim is unknown at this stage but was approximately 60 years old.”

Police were also told on scene that the deceased was wearing black pants, black shoes and an orange shirt.

Any person who might be able to assist are requested to call the Randfontein Police on 011 767 2300.

Ernst added, “It is again stressed that crossing railway lines where no pedestrian bridge or crossing is erected, is not only illegal but can result in fatalities.”
