Title deeds handed over to residents

The mayor said the issuing of title deeds is part of the restoration of the dignity of the residents

Executive Mayor of the Rand West City Local Municipality, Mzi Khumalo, handed 32 title deeds to residents of wards 13, 14 and 19 in Mohlakeng, on Friday, 3 August, in a ceremony held at the Ramosa Hall.

During the event, the Mayor said homeowners receiving title deeds is part of the process of restoring the pride and dignity of Mohlakeng’s residents through home ownership.

“The issuing of title deeds is part of the broader government programme of eradicating homelessness, insecure tenure, and the lack of access to basic services such as electricity, running water, and sanitation.

The Mayor also said through a comprehensive housing programme, the government is providing not only housing, but housing linked to established human settlement with basic services such as roads, community centres, clinics and schools.

“We regard property ownership and the provision of housing as being part of the process of development and economic growth in our City,” the Mayor said.
