Help Just in Time get a new home

Help the home for needy children raise R2 million.

The Just In Time Baby Sanctuary is urging the community to assist it with finding a new home, by helping to raise at least R2 million, as their existing facility has been put on the market.

Georgina Caetano, CEO and founder of Just In Time said: “Besides a minimal temporary foster care grant, we receive no other grants from the Government and survive solely on donations received from individuals and corporates, as well as our own fundraising efforts.

In a press statement, she also said: “Our aim is to secure CSI funding from corporates that are willing to partner with us and support us on a long-term and monthly basis.

To achieve our vision, we must secure a permanent home in accordance with the requirements of the Department of Social Development for Child and Youth Care Centres (CYCC).

Just In Time has been given notice by the owner of the property of his intention to sell the property on which the existing home is located (17 Robina Road, Greenhills, Randfontein).

“We have been given 6 months notice and have first option to purchase.

Our options are:

(a) to purchase and renovate our existing home, which includes developing the adjacent property for staff and management accommodation;

(b) purchase another suitable home that suits the Department’s requirements and requires minimal change;

(c) purchase property and build to the specifications; or

(d) have another home sponsored with a 99 year lease.

“All of the above options require financial support as well as various kinds of expertise and skills.”

Georgina said in the event of Just In Time Baby Sanctuary not being able to raise the funds to purchase a property, they would need to find suitable accommodation and relocate, which would require the following:

1.Relocation costs which include various deposits, repairs, if any to the existing home, and

removal costs. This is estimated at approximately R60 000,00.

2.Funding (long-term commitment) – our operational costs are approximately R45 000,00 a month – this covers salaries, rent, electricity, fuel, insurance, security, maintenance, medical, groceries, communications, stationary, office supplies, nappies, formula, emergency supplies, vehicle maintenance and repairs etc.

3. The purchase or leasing of a Hyundai H1 with a full maintenance and service contract. It is impossible to transport staff, all the children, the babies, their luggage and car seats in one trip with our current vehicle. A bigger vehicle will also assist us in collecting large donations.

4. Zozo hut or container fitted with shelving for storage – this will free up much-needed space in the house.

5. Dishwasher

6 Industrial automatic front-loading washing machine

7.Gas stove with installation

8.CCTV cameras and intercom system

9.A baby drop box – a safer alternative for mothers to leave their newborn infants

“Just In Time Baby Sanctuary needs you – our nation’s children need you. Please help us to continue making a difference in our children’s lives. Know that your support will make it easier for us to better the quality of life for the most vulnerable members of our society.”

Georgina concluded by thanking potential donors in advance.
