Shoes, a gift to the needy

Woord en Lig Church donated eleven pairs of school shoes to the initiative.

This year, Pastor Nicholas Nkosi of Christ Life Centre Church in Kagiso said he did not want a birthday gift for himself only – he’d rather have one that benefited his entire community.

And on Monday, 30 July, Nicholas received his gift – eleven pairs of school shoes for the needy from Woord en Lig Church.

“Being a community pastor for years and seeing the need of the children who come to our church, made me realise I could do something to help,” Nicholas said.

Nicholas said most of the children come from impoverished backgrounds.

“So, I thought that for a change, on my birthday, I should do something to help inspire the children,” he said.

He said his initiative’s target is the donation of fifty pairs of shoes.

Pastor Abri Erasmus of Woord en Lig Church said: “We thought it a worthy cause, so we decided to get involved. We also distribute food to the needy in the community”.

Abri said he is proud to be involved in projects that are aimed at building the community.

“I know Pastor Nkosi – we work together on other projects in Randfontein. Today, we just want to say happy birthday to him and may the shoes walk to those who need them most,” Abri said.
