Father jailed six months for assaulting 14-year-old daughter

Biological father from Randfontein gets six-month suspended sentence for assaulting his 14-year-old daughter with a bowl of food.

A 42-year-old Randfontein father has received a six-month sentence, suspended for three years, for assaulting his own daughter.

Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson, said the incident took place in Mohlakeng on 29 March this year.

“It was alleged by the 14-year-old victim that she was assaulted by her biological father regarding food.

He allegedly threw a bowl of food at her, and then assaulted her by slapping her on the face and body. She managed to run out of the house to seek help.”

Sergeant Riaan Coetzee, attached to the Family Violence, Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit in Krugersdorp, was the investigating officer. His investigation was thorough and quickly completed. That is the reason for the speedy finalisation of the matter.
