Lenmed to give back in true Madiba style!

Lenmed Randfontein Private Hospital will this year reach out to Setholele Primary School in Wheatlands as part of their Mandela Day celebrations.

The staff at Lenmed Randfontein Private Hospital plan to help the learners at the Setholele Primary School in Wheatlands, all in the name of Madiba.

The school is situated in an informal settlement in Randfontein.

Ofentse Pharumele, the client relations officer at the hospital, said, “Mandela Day and Month is one of the most important events on our calendar. We go all out on Mandela Day and all of the staff are excited about visiting the school.”

She said, “Although the event is not going to be on Mandela Day it is for the same cause. We are waiting for the school to start and for everyone to settle in, so we are going there on 27 July,” Pharumele said.

“We were looking for schools that need a lot of help and we realised that the people in the area of the Setholele Primary School are really struggling.”

They are going to donate paint, help paint the school, hand out soup to the learners and their parents and they are donating 21 pairs of school shoes.

“It’s hard to decide who gets shoes and who doesn’t so we are going to give a pair of shoes to the top three academic performing learners in every grade,” Pharumele said. The shoes will come with a hamper.

Most of the hospital staff are going to take part in the Mandela Day event. “Every department, from the medical ward to the surgical ward and the reception and pharmacy, is going to lend a hand,” she said.
