Bakkie stolen in North West found in Waterpan

Police recently recovered a stolen vehicle in Waterpan. Could the bakkie be yours?

Police arrested a 20-year-old man in Waterpan for being in possession of a stolen vehicle with a North West registration.

Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, the Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, said the incident took place on the afternoon of Wednesday, 11 July.

“Constables Sibusiso Myeni and Nhlanhla Ngobeni were conducting their routine investigation duties when they received information about a stolen bakkie parked inside a garage at a particular house in Waterpan. They proceeded to the scene and a preliminary investigation revealed that the bakkie had been stolen somewhere in the North West province.

“The suspect, aged 20, was arrested and will be charged with being in possession of a stolen vehicle. He is expected to appear in court soon.”

Colonel Tinus Swart, the Bekkersdal Police station commander commended the members for a job well done and thanked the community for the tip-off.
