On Wednesday, 4 July 2018, he was sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment and also declared unfit to possess a firearm, but the sentence was suspended for five years.

Sergeant Thabo Masoba from the Family Violence, Child Abuse and Sexual Offence Unit in Krugersdorp was the investigating officer on the case. He was applauded for his thorough investigation.

“Suspended sentences are not ideal, but they are seen as a preventative measure,” said Lieutenant Colonel Kathy Segotta, the Krugersdorp FCS commander.

“The member and our counterparts at the NPA and Justice Department are congratulated on the successful conclusion of this case,” Segotta added.
