Bus crash leaves 23 injured

At least 23 people were injured when the bus they were travelling in crashed into a veld on the far West Rand during the weekend.

At least 23 people were injured when the bus they were travelling in veered off the road and crashed into the veld in Wedela near Fochville on Sunday night (1 July).

According to Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, “ER24 paramedics, along with several other services arrived on the scene at 8.42pm to find a bus some distance off the road. Six people were found seated inside the bus while several others were found walking around on the scene.

“Paramedics assessed the patients and found that one had sustained serious injuries while 22 others had sustained minor to moderate injuries. Fortunately, there were no fatalities at the scene.

“The patients were treated for their injuries, and the seriously injured were provided with pain-relief medication before they were transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment.”

The exact details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
