How to keep your pets warm and toasty in the winter
Cats and dog can get sick too. Here's how you can keep them warm this winter ...
The winter can be really cold for your pets, that’s why you have to go the extra mile to make sure that they are warm and toasty. It’s the owner’s responsibility to make them comfortable to avoid a trip to the vet with a sick pet this season.
1. Don’t shave them
It might be tempting to take your poodle or Pomeranian to the groomer to get a lion-cut, but their fur keeps them warm naturally so it’s best to avoid shaving your pets in the winter. Make sure your pets are dry after giving them a bath and before taking them outdoors.
2. Keep them indoors
All pets get cold in the winter so it’s best to let them sleep inside on cold nights. Make sure they have a warm blanket to snuggle with and a soft bed to sleep on.
3. You can’t always bring your pet indoors
If you can’t let your pets like rabbits or big dogs indoors on cold nights, make sure that their beds are covered with a blanket or cloth so that the cold wind can’t make them sick. It’s also a good idea to install a heat lamp in the doghouse or rabbit hutch to keep them warm. Remember to take necessary precautions when installing heat lamps as they can be a fire risk near wood and plastic.
Make sure that they always have fresh water to drink and plenty to eat. Nothing warms you up more than love so remember to give your pets lots of hugs and love.
