R’fontein, Toekies on their knees for troubled youth

People from Randfontein as well as Toekomsrus came together to pray on their knees for our troubled youth.

The 15th Prayer Rally was held in honour of Randfontein’s troubled youth at AGS Middelvlei on Sunday, 17 June.

By creating a prayer culture in schools, the organisers of the rally are hoping to keep the kids off the street. When the whole community comes together, it creates a safe place for people to get help and to get on the right path by establishing a relationship with Jesus.

The Prayer Rally was organised by Randfontein On Your Knees, and a youth pastor, Pastor Veon Bezuidenhoudt from Toekies, delivered the message during the service.

There’s a lot of bad things going on in the schools in the area and that’s why the goal of the Prayer Rally was to get all the people from the community together to pray and to keep the youth on the straight and narrow.

“We are praying for sins like violence, and alcohol and drug abuse in schools,” Danie Henning, one of the organisers, said.

Randfontein On Your Knees is very passionate about getting the young people and school learners excited about religion and helping them make the right choices. They recently visited eight high schools in the area to spread the message and to introduce them to the Prayer Oven Book. The goal of this book is to empower young people to live a prayer-bound life.

“Today our prayers are aimed at the youth of Randfontein,” Danie said.

They also incorporated the material from the Prayer Oven book in the Prayer Rally.

The praise and worship session was led by The Lion of Juda band and the people danced, clapped and sang along passionately. The West Rand Gospel Choir also performed during the Prayer Rally.

“We want to let people know that Jesus Christ is the only answer to life’s problems,” Danie added.

People from Randfontein as well as Toekomsrus came together to pray on their knees for the youth, and ended the night with refreshments that were donated to the Prayer Rally.
