Police arrested a 40-year-old suspect on Tuesday, 12 June – just two days after a weekend home invasion in Bekkersdal.
Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, the Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, said the suspect was pointed out by the victim, who claimed that the man invaded his house with two other unknown men on Sunday, 10 June and robbed him of his electrical appliances and cellphones.
“It is alleged the victim was sleeping when he was awakened by the noise of a door breaking. He went to investigate and was surprised to find three men already inside the house, and that he knew one of them.”
Police went on to say that the man who was known to the victim began to assault him, pouring cold water over him. The other two men joined the attack.
