Two people found dead at different scenes

Bekkersdal Police are investigating the deaths of two people – one of a man and the other of a partially clothed woman.

Bekkersdal Police are investigating two cases of murder after the bodies of a middle-aged man and a half-naked woman were found in different locations on the same day.

Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, has confirmed that a murder investigation is under way after the body of a middle-aged man was found with injuries next to a Caltex garage in Waterpan near Westonaria.

“At about 10.45pm on Tuesday, 29 May, the Bekkersdal Police were summoned to the scene after a passer-by spotted a man lying next to the road.

They proceeded to the scene and discovered the body of a black man wearing red trousers, and a green and gold T-shirt, covered with a brown Basotho blanket. The man was pronounced dead by the EMS. The motive behind the killing is still unknown to the police and the deceased has not been identified as yet.”

In the second incident, Lefakane said, “We are investigating an inquest after the body of an unknown woman was found half-naked and partially decomposed at about 11.52pm on Tuesday, 29 May.

“The police received a complaint of an unknown woman lying dead on a plot in Zuurbekom. The proceeded to the scene and investigation revealed that the body was already decomposing. The deceased was wearing only a white T-shirt. The cause of death is still unknown to the police and the deceased is unknown.”

Both bodies were taken to the Carletonville Government Mortuary.
