Police shut down liquor store

Liquor store in Randfontein shut down and 41-year-old arrested during a Cluster operation aimed at liquor outlets and second-hand goods dealers.

The owners of liquor outlets in the Bekkersdal Policing Precinct know that they need to watch their steps.

During a Cluster operation aimed at liquor outlets and second-hand goods dealers on Thursday morning (24 May) a liquor store in Bekkersdal was shut down and 41-year-old man arrested. The operation was led by Lieutenant Colonel Mulaudzi from the West Rand Cluster office.

“The members concentrated on unlicensed liquor outlets and dealers in second-hand goods to check for non-compliance. Fines were issued, and one liquor outlet was closed down and liquor was seized. A 41-year-old man was also arrested, ” said Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson.

Colonel Tinus Swart, the Bekkersdal Police station commander, commended the members for job well done and thanked the other stations’ members.

“These kinds of operations will help reduce crimes committed around liquor outlets and also compel traders to comply and operate legally. This also applies to dealers in second-hand goods who buy and store stolen property,” he said.
