#Mother’sDay: Make sure mom is kept safe

Security company advised that as you think about ways to spoil your mom, remember to keep safety top of mind too.

As you think about ways to spoil your mom, remember to keep safety top of mind too, said Agnieszka Gryn, Regional Executive at Fidelity ADT’s Inland region.

“Mother’s Day should be about celebrating the moms we love. By being alert and considering these five safety tips you can ensure she has a memorable day,” she said.

• If you plan to go out visiting, make sure you park inside the property and the gate is closed securely behind you. Avoid parking on pavements. If you have to, remove any valuables from inside the car and take them inside with you. Make sure no valuables can be seen through the car’s window.

• If you are having visitors at your house, don’t leave your gate or front door open. This is an open invitation for criminals. If you plan to leave the gate open, consider hiring a casual guard to watch the premises. Once all the guests have arrived, close the gate and lock the front door.

• Taking mom to a restaurant? Make sure you park in a secure parking area and be alert when climbing into and out of your vehicle.

• When paying the bill, ensure the waitron brings the credit card machine to your table. Don’t just hand over your credit card – credit card fraud is a reality.

• If you are taking mom shopping or heading to an ATM to draw cash, keep a look out for any suspicious individuals and report them to the nearest security officer. Ensure you aren’t being followed home and, if in doubt, drive to the nearest police station.

“We wish all moms a happy and safe Mother’s Day this Sunday,” concluded Agnieszka.
