PHOTOS: First Mr, Mrs en Miss Randfontein crowned

More than 60 finalists battled it out on the catwalk for the first ever Mr, Mrs en Miss Randfontein titles.

It was not just about the glitz, the glamour, the elegance and beauty during the first-ever Mr, Mrs en Miss Randfontein competition at Vredenvlucht Venue on 28 April.

Kings and queens of Randfontein outdid each other on the catwalk as the 63 contestants took to the ramp in their stylish and exquisite outfits to win the hearts of the judges in the various categories.

It’s said 63 contestants took to the ramp in their stylish and exquisite outfits.

Janine van Loggerenberg Ferreira, Chief Executive Officer of the competition, was elated about the turnout and said,

“This is not only about beauty, it is more about brains. We want to empower men and women. I am convinced that we crowned the right contestants tonight,” she said.

Janine said after 13 long hours of interviewing the hopefuls intensively, the right candidates were selected.

“We had six high-profile judges and the turnout was bigger than we had planned. I am really grateful for the opportunity to host it,” she said.

Janine added that she was inspired to embark on this journey after achieving some success in the industry herself. She was one of the finalists in the Mrs South Africa competition two years ago.

“I was crowned second princess of Gauteng in 2016. Now I want to empower women with low self-esteem. The last few months were really a special journey because it was not about how one looks and smiles – it was about the person inside and what that person can bring to the table. It is about whether you will be able to empower other people,” she explained.

Janine added that the competition is aimed at getting involved in community upliftment projects.

People can expect the Mr and Mrs Randfontein competition to be bigger next year.

“We really want to encourage the community of Randfontein to also become involved. For example, if there is a golf day or a function such as a morning tea or a school event, please invite the winners, because they have the ability to empower. I am really overwhelmed by the support and even the sponsorship. We got more than 200 sponsors. People can expect the Mr and Mrs Randfontein competition to be bigger next year,” Janine said.
