Parents look for a sponsor for their daughter

Bongani and Nomfundo have three months to raise R 25 700 for their daugher

Greenhills parents are looking for sponsorship for their daughter to be able to participate in the second annual netball tournament in Mauritius later this year.

The tournament is run by Vision Sport Mauritius and will take place from 2 to 9 October.

Bongani Duiker said he needs R 25 700 to pay for all the expenses of the trip.

“As a parent, I cannot afford it, so I would be thrilled to get any sponsors, big or small, or anyone who can come to the party and assist by helping to make the trip a success. We only have three months left to make sure that we have the money,” Bongani said.

Bongani said this will be great opportunity for his daughter, Mamello Maphanga-Duiker, as she has been exuding netball talent from a tender age.

The Vision Sport programme has selected enough children to form a squad to enter the tournament in Mauritius.

The squad will be coached by former South African netball coaches, Louise du Plessis and Elize Kotze.

“Mamello has been playing netball for four years. Since I have been involved in developing the kids of the West Rand, she has been with me. I could see that she was interested in netball, as she used run around on the field with the ball. I think that is where her interest started, and that is why she is pursuing the sport,” Bongani said.
